Education Team Actions

ACTION After the Walkout: Educate. Elect. Engage.

ACTION Tulsa held accountability sessions with candidates in House Districts 69, 71, and 79 before the primary election in June. Candidates heard stories about the impact funding cuts and other legislation have had on their constituents, answered questions about how they would address these issues, and stated how they will remain accountable to their districts for the approximately 100 people who attended each session.

The accountability sessions followed an informational gathering in May that helped almost 200 teachers and parents understand education funding: what happened in the 2018 legislative session, the politics behind the scenes, and what still needs to be done. Prior to the event, member institutions held an Education Awareness Sunday.
