ACTION stands for Allied Communities of Tulsa Inspiring Our Neighborhoods.
We're a broad-based organization—a non-profit comprised of various faith-based and civic institutions working together for the common good of our members and our community.

We are politically engaged, yet radically non-partisan.
We believe true democracy starts not with simply casting a ballot, but with building a culture of empathy that seeks to understand the experiences of our neighbors and negotiate around the interests we have in common.
Our vision and mission
We envision an engaged, equitable community where ALL people have the power to collectively influence public decisions.
We pursue our vision by:
1. Building deep interpersonal relationships
2. Developing regular people to be impactful leaders in their communities and institutions
3. Helping our member institutions build power to effect political change for the greater good in accordance with their stated missions and values
Our global affiliation
ACTION is Tulsa's local affiliate of the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF).
Founded in 1940, the IAF is the nation's largest and longest-standing network of local faith and community-based organizations. It is widely recognized as having the strongest track record in the nation for citizen leadership development and for helping congregations and other civic organizations act on their missions to achieve lasting change in the world.
The IAF currently works with thousands of religious congregations, non-profits, civic organizations, and unions, in more than sixty-five cities across the United States and in Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Germany.
ACTION—along with our sister chapter VOICE in OKC—is a member of the West/Southwest IAF region.
